The Art Department of Birmingham Covington School provides students in grades 3 through 8 with a multifaceted program. Students develop their creativity in programs such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and print-making. Students have the opportunity to reflect on their work and be independently motivated in engaged in all forms of art. |

Gerald Melton, the director of the BCS Art Department, has been teaching art to students from ages four to forty for 43 years, including 20 years at the Birmingham-Bloomfield Art Center. He has illustrated several books of activities for educators on subjects from Music Appreciation to Aerospace Education. He grew up and attended school in Dallas, Texas, where he met his wife, Jeri, in an art class. They have three artistic sons and five grandchildren. |
