PTSA Clearinghouse

The central goals of our parent/BCS community support group are to increase student achievement, to promote the welfare of children and youth, to increase the level of parent involvement, and to enhance the communication process between the school and the BCS community.

At BCS, parents, students and staff join together to specialize in tasks that are essential for effective school governance. Our structure promotes effective coordination if efforts and the development of leadership opportunities by enabling people to join a committee that meets monthly and focuses on an are of interest. We encourage parents to participate and volunteer at some level - room parent, committee member or chairperson or as an elected officer on our Management Committee.

The BCS PTSA Clearinghouse is comprised of everyone in the BCS Community. The Clearinghouse meets monthly to provide an opportunity for the individual committees to review their activities with the larger community. There is an open forum enabling parents and students to bring issues and concerns to the forefront. Both the Principal and Assistant Principal attend the meetings and are available to answer questions.

The Management Committee is comprised of the elected Officer - our Co-Chairs, Co-Treasurers,Corresponding Secretary and Recording Secretary - and the various Committee Chairs and Co-Chairs. The Management Committee is charged with making recommendations to the Clearinghouse on important matters including preparation of the annual budget and the development of procedural policies. The Management Committee meets monthly or as needed to meet its responsibilities. The PTSA Clearinghouse Co-Chairs meet with the Administration monthly or as needed to review and discuss the issues of the day.

There are ten standing PTSA Clearinghouse Committees. Generally these committees meet monthly to address topics related to the specific needs of our school community. They undertake a variety of projects throughout the school year and offer our entire community a host of volunteer opportunities and options for involvement in school activities.  The list below contains a link to each of the committees web pages:
