  • Parent Placement Input Letter - As we frequently remind our BCS community, once the second half of the year begins, our minds are in two places; supporting our learning efforts for this school year and beginning the planning for next school year.  We are about to begin the BCS scheduling process for the 2016-2017 school year. Please read the Parent Placement Input Letter very carefully, as it is filled with important information.  The letter includes details about the format of our 3/4, 5/6 and 7/8 schedules as well as how you can provide input into your child’s placement for the 2016-17 school year. Hard copies are available in the BCS office.

  • 7/8 Field Trip Permission Form -The 7/8 students will be traveling to the Jewish Ensemble Theater on Friday, March 4 to see the play “Diary of Anne Frank”.  Permission slips are being given to the students on Monday, 2/22, but you may also find it here.  Permission slips and payment (cash or checks written to Birmingham Covington School) are due Monday, 2/29.  Due to payment requirements, LATE PERMISSION SLIPS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED

  • BCS PTSA Wellness team launches first of three upcoming forums!  - Save the date for the launching of our first BCS PTSA Parent Forum, Creating Great Relationships, Monday, February 29 from 6:30-8:00 PM in the media center. What a great way to get together with other BCS parents to learn and practice simple tools, tactics, and a mindset to actively engage in conversation with your child while strengthening your relationship and supporting them to be successful. Coach Bob Shenefelt, author, success coach, and entrepreneur will share and facilitate the tried and true process of iMatter and iMatter for Kids.   • The Ripple Effect -- A new BCS newsletter subtitled Sharing the Stories of BCS Students Making a Difference in the Lives of Others is a wonderful snapshot of some of the great work and learning that is ongoing at BCS. View all of the issues on our Students Home page.

  • Salmon in the Classroom -- Thanks to the generosity of the BCS PTSA and Premier Pet Supply in Beverly Hills, we are able to help the Great Lakes by raising salmon. To view the blog click here: BCS Salmon Blog. Last years salmon were released on May 5, 2015 into the Clinton River in Auburn Hill's Riverside Park. Of the 220 eggs, 180 live salmon were released.   • Did you know? Every student in our school has to have their parent or guardian read the first two pages of the "Concussion Awareness Educational Material," complete the third page with the student's name and parent/guardian signature, and return the signed form back to the BCS office where it will be placed in the student's file per direction from the state.   • BCS Bond 2015 Impact -- On May 5, 2015, voters in the Birmingham Public School District approved a bond proposal to improve school facilities, enhance building security for the safety of the students and staff, and provide up-to-date technology for students to remain globally competitive.   • BCS Wins National Recognition - Birmingham Covington School was just recognized as one of The 50 Best Middle Schools in the U.S. by TheBestSchools.org. They are the only school from Michigan to be designated with this honor by The Best Schools. TheBestSchools.org selected BCS based on several weighted factors, including academic excellence, NAEP scores, state assessment scores, received awards and rankings, geographical diversity, and reputation. Congratulations to BCS staff, students and families for this outstanding recognition.

Our application, video and other documents clearly showed our school’s passion for and efforts toward innovative teaching and learning.
